Pottery, ceramics and sculpture studio

Clayspace Studios is a not-for-profit social enterprise set up to offer a professional ceramics studio space and teaching facility for the whole community. Our aim is to provide inspiration and support for anyone wanting to work with clay at all levels of ability and experience. We run a regular programme of classes, short courses and drop-in sessions from our Cliftonville studios in Margate.

If you have any questions about classes, how it works etc, why not check out our FAQs. These cover most of the common questions we regularly get get asked.

See our Facebook and Instagram pages for news, regular updates and photos of lovely student work fresh from the kilns.

Introduction to pottery courses

These 6 week courses allow beginners to get to grips with all the basic pottery and ceramics techniques. The sessions cover a taster of lots of different techniques, including coiling, sculpting, slabwork and working on the potter’s wheel, as well as many ways to texture, decorate and glaze your work.

Bookable adult casual sessions

These sessions are suitable for students of all abilities who want to work in a more flexible way. Just book your slot and turn up and get making. We will give you everything you need to get you started.

Bookable one-to-one and small private classes

These private classes are for 1, 2 or 3 people and can be personally tailored for you or your groups’ needs. Typically on the day a small group would be guided through one or two different hand building techniques, and everyone would get to have some one-to-one tuition on the potters wheel.
